4th edition of the West Africa Football Union (WAFU-A) African Schools Football Championship qualifiers
The 4th edition of the West Africa Football Union (WAFU-A) African Schools Football Championship qualifiers ended in Banjul on Friday, 28th November 2025. The championship capped off with a great fanfare at the Gambinos Stars Africa Complex in Mandinary with Senegal and Guinea crown champions of the boys and girls categories, respectively.
Defending champions Senegal successfully defended their crown in a dramatic 5-4 penalty shootout victory over Guinea in the final, following an entertaining goalless draw in regulation time. Meanwhile, Gambia edged Mauritania 4-2 on post-match penalties following another goalless stalemate in regulation time to take home the bronze medal.
Elsewhere, Guinea conquered the girls’ category with seven points following victories over Senegal and Guinea Bissau and a draw against hosts The Gambia. Senegal took second with 6 points while the Gambia finished 3rd with 4 points.

As winners, Senegal (boys) and Guinea (girls) each received a cheque amounting to One Hundred Thousand US Dollars, gold medals, and a gaint trophy while runners-up Guinea (boys) and Senegal (girls) each received a cheque of Seventy-five Thousand US Dollars and silver medals. Meanwhile, the Gambian boys and girls each received bronze medals and a cheque amounting to Fifty Thousand U.S Dollars.

Individual awards were also presented to the player of the tournament, which went to Bara Gueye (Senegal) and Yvonne Dramou (Guinea). leading goalscorers were Bara Gueye (Senegal) and Penda Saidou (Gambia), best goalkeeper Naby Sylla (Guinea) and Anne Marie Diatta (Senegal), and the fair play award went to Liberia and Guinea Bissau in both boys and girls categories, respectively.
