WAFU A U-20 AFCON Qualifiers: The Gambia Complete Semifinals Lineup

The Gambia have officially completed the semifinals lineup for the 2024 WAFU A U-20 AFCON Qualifiers following a goalless draw again Mali on Sunday, 22 September, at the SKD Sports Complex.

The result moved The Gambia to the second spot with two points in Group B that comprises three teams including group winners Senegal.

After a series of thrilling matches, the four qualifying teams are set to battle for a place in the finals.

The two finalists will automatically qualify for the 2025 U-20 AFCON Finals

Group A

Sierra Leone: Dominating their group with a series of impressive performances, Sierra Leone have been a formidable force, finishing as group winners with seven points from three games.
They will face Group B runners-up The Gambia is the battle for one of the two AFCON slots.

Guinea-Bissau 0-1 Sierra Leone

Guinea: After a challenging start, Guinea rallied to secure their semifinal spot, displaying resilience and skill that could propel them further in the tournament. The Guineans finish as runners-up in Group A with five points, a point adrift hosts Liberia.
They will face defending champions Senegal in the semifinals.

Group B

Senegal: With a strong lineup featuring emerging stars, the defending champions continue their consistent outstanding performance in their quest to secure yet another U-20 championship. They finished top of Group B with four points out of two games.

The Gambia: The dark horse of the tournament, The Gambia have captured attention after narrowly securing qualification for the semifinals with just two points from two games.
They put a strong fight in their opening match against Senegal, forcing them to a 2-2 draw.

The scorpions are confident of defying the odds to make to the U-20 AFCON.
