Berewuleng Bounce Back as USFAS Bamako Top Group A

Berewuleng FC bounced back from their opening Group B defeat to AS Bolonta with an emphatic 5-1 victory over Sierra Leone’s Mogbwemo Queens at the Late Omar Jallow Memorial Mini Stadium on Friday.

Sarah Jarju was the star of the show, scoring a hat-trick as Berewuleng produced a commanding display. Ellen Gomez also found the back of the net, with Mogbwemo Queens reduced to 10 players during the contest.

The Sierra Leonean side will look to respond when they face Guinea’s AS Bolonta on Monday, 31 August.

In Group A, Mali’s USFAS Bamako secured top spot after a convincing 4-1 victory over Liberia’s Determine Girls at Faraba Stadium.

Djamako Traore put USFAS in front after eight minutes before doubling the advantage two minutes later with a fierce strike from distance.

Korotoumou Keita added a third in the 22nd minute, beating the goalkeeper with a powerful left-footed finish after dancing her way down the left flank.

Determine Girls pulled one back four minutes after the restart when substitute Damilola Adebayor capitalised on a defensive error to fire past Fatoumata Karentao.

USFAS restored their three-goal cushion five minutes from time through substitute Safiatou Keita, sealing a 4-1 victory and top spot in Group A.
