WAFU A U-20 AFCON Qualifiers: Host Liberia Pin Guinea Bissau in Opener

In the opening match of the WAFU A U-20 AFCON Qualifiers, Nuch Zohn’s 29th minute goal secured a dramatic crucial 1-0 victory for the host nation, Liberia, against Guinea Bissau.

The game was tightly contested, with both teams showcasing strong defensive plays and attacking prowess.

However, it’s Zohn’s first half strike that broke the deadlock in the first half to give the host the lead and ultimately, the win.

As the match approached its final moments, Bissau kept the Liberian defence on their backfoot in search for an equalizer, but failed to convert their chances.

The win not only thrilled the home fans but also set a positive tone for Liberia’s campaign in the qualifiers.

“We found it difficult to settle from the start because we don’t know our opponents, however, we were able to find our rhythm and managed to the goal that secured us the win,” Liberia coach Emmanuel Kaykay said.

Liberia will take on Sierra Leone in their second group match on 18 September.
